Is Suzuki Carry street legal in Canada?

I would like to know whether the Suzuki Carry mini truck is street legal in Canada and whether there are any limitations to its use. I know that some states in the US allow its usage, while others don't, so it would be good to know the approach of using Japanese mini trucks in Canada too.

In Canada, they are entirely legal. Minitrucks can be registered and licensed under import laws if they satisfy the following criteria:

  • Vehicles have a minimum age of 15 years.
  • Provincial Safety and E-test Certified.
  • Duties, GST, and PST paid upon importing.

They are completely legal in Canada and as stated in the previous post, they should meet those requirements and conditions.

Suzuki Carry or for that matter all minitrucks are completely legal in Canada. Import regulations allow the registration and licensing of MiniTrucks as long as they meet the following requirements; Vehicles should be at least 15 years old - Transport Canada allows vehicles into Canada as long as they are 15 years or older. Duties, GST, PST paid at importation - unless you're an importer, you don't have to worry about these. They are already paid at the time of importation. Provincial Safety and E-test Certified - vehicle should have undergone and passed safety and emissions testing as per your province requirements.

Canada takes environmental concerns seriously, before importing always check the emission levels of your mini truck and check whether it satisfies the regulations laid by the Canadian government. Otherwise, they would reject your registration based on the pollution hazard.

It is legal In Canada to import minitrucks provided the vehicle is at least 15 years old. It should be emission certified, and all applicable duties and taxes have to be paid beforehand as per their import law.
