Handy Tips While Buying a Minitruck.

Most important factors to look out for before choosing your minitruck will be; Fuel economy, capacity to haul anything, budget, and its performance. Get as much information as you can on the mini truck you want regarding its performance, price, etc. Things to look for in a minitruck generally would be, it's versatility, durability, low operating costs, utility function, options and customizations, comparison to other ATVs and UTVs, makes & models, and most important, licensing & regulations. Depending on your budget and the purpose for which you’re buying, you will find trucks at a very good bargain price. Do negotiate for a good bargain. Typically, a dealer will have a profit margin of $2,000 to $4,000 from the asking price. So while negotiating, keep this in mind. When buying used minitrucks, inspect chassis, frame, and underbody thoroughly. It's a good idea to inspect the clutch and shifter cables, steering linkage and arms, as well as the CV boots for any sign of replacement or damage. Minitruck exterior and cabin interior will give you a rough idea about its condition. A test drive will allow you to examine the engine condition, acceleration, steering, and brakes. For US roads, certain standard equipments like seat belts, horn, approved lighting i.e. tail lights, headlamps, turn signals, reverse and brake lights, and AS1/AS2 safety glass are mandatory to clear safety inspections. Several states in the US approve mini trucks for local road use, while other states are silent on the matter. It will do you good if you are aware of your state regulations.

Thanks for the comprehensive write-up. Though I own a Subaru Sambar and Honda Acty, I have my eyes now on Suzuki Carry, which is for sale. I am not much of a technical guy and I did take a mechanic with me for the vehicle inspection. He is satisfied and so am I. I am in the process of negotiating a goo price for this piece and hopefully it will join my fleet very soon.
